Loctudy in south Brittany...

There are so many visits, tours, walks, treasures and unusual sights to discover.

Many activities are available in Loctudy or surroundings : walk on GR 34, practice sailing, rent a bike or a boat, play tennis or golf (2 x 18 holes), surf, enjoy scuba diving, go fishing...

From Loctudy you are within easy access of the Bigouden country, from the steep rocks of Pointe du Raz to the famous painters’ galleries of Pont-Aven, in the shadow of Paul Gauguin. And not forgetting the islands of Glenan, a few miles away from Loctudy, where the transparent and turquoise water emphasises the fabulous nature.

You could begin with the fishing ports of the Bigouden country, from Loctudy and Le Guilvinec to Penmarc’h, where the famous Eckmühl lighthouse awaits you (350 stairs for a fabulous view). Winter storms in Saint Guénolé are also a spectacular experience you won’t forget.

And now for more “civilized” walking in Pont L’Abbé or Quimper, where you will discover the old district, museums, the faïence workshop… and also the local markets offering typical regional produce.

You might then continue to Pointe de la Torche, where surfers, sailboarders and kite-surfers give a permanent show in the waves. Kilometres of beach (and few people…) are yours. And don’t forget, in Spring, the coloured fields of tulips in La Torche.

Onwards to Audierne, a fishing port where you may travel by boat to the island of Sein and then to the pointe du Raz, a wild and rough land at the edge of the continent.

For a change of scenery, cruise to the islands of Glenan where the fine white sand of the beaches and the turquoise or emerald water give you the sensation of travelling through exotic isles or sail up the River of Pont L’Abbé or the Odet to Quimper.

Boarding in Loctudy during summer, near the hotel.

After Sainte-Marine and Bénodet (from the bridge, you can witness this splendid view over the mouth of the Odet), visit the Ville Close in Concarneau and its massive granite fortifications. Your last stop could be Pont-Aven, a charming city of painters, where galleries still remember Gauguin and the impressionists.

In Douarnenez, you will find an exceptional panorama of maritime past, while Locronan offers remarkable architecture around the central square and the old well.
